Building a sustainable skincare routine
Build a realistic skincare habit with minimal products and maximum consistency.
Simplicity beats complicated routines
A 5-step routine you do daily beats a 10-step routine you skip because it is too much work. Simple routines are more sustainable and still effective.
Basic skincare—cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen—addresses most skin concerns. Additional products help for specific goals but are not essential.
Making skincare a consistent habit
Do your routine at the same time each day, anchoring it to an existing habit (after brushing teeth, before bed). Keep products visible and accessible, not hidden in a cabinet.
Start with one simple routine (morning: cleanser and moisturizer; evening: cleanser and moisturizer) then add products one at a time if you want additional benefits.
Choosing products that work for you
Do not assume expensive products work better. Price does not correlate with effectiveness for most people. A product's performance on your skin matters far more than the brand or cost.
Give new products at least 4-6 weeks before deciding they don't work (except for products causing reactions, which you should stop immediately). Skin changes take time.
