Cycle syncing and wellness for hormonal awareness
Learn how your menstrual cycle affects energy and performance, and adjust your routine accordingly.
Understanding cycle phases and energy
The menstrual cycle has four phases: menstruation, follicular, ovulation and luteal. Hormone levels fluctuate throughout, affecting energy, mood and athletic performance.
Follicular and ovulatory phases tend to have higher energy; luteal phase energy is often lower. This is not weakness—it is biology. Understanding this helps you plan realistically.
Aligning exercise with cycle phases
Higher-intensity training may feel better during follicular and ovulatory phases. During menstruation and luteal phases, gentle movement like walking, yoga and stretching often feel more sustainable.
Listen to your body. If you feel energized during your cycle's low-hormone phase, do not force yourself to slow down. If high-intensity exercise feels wrong during high-hormone phases, that is okay too.
Adjusting nutrition and rest
Caloric and nutrient needs shift slightly through the cycle. Luteal phase often requires slightly more calories. Some women benefit from increasing iron-rich foods during menstruation.
Sleep needs may increase during the luteal phase. Prioritizing rest during this phase supports both your body's needs and your wellness practices.
